CHAPTER 57 - Landing Gear

My first priority was to get the landing gear on. I wanted to be able to get the plane off the sawhorses after installing the wings, and also wanted some insurance in case the weight of the wings was too much for the sawhorses.

The first two photos show the installation of the motor mount and the gear legs in place. Too late I discovered that a hole would be necessary in the firewall to allow installation of the bolt for the nose gear leg.

The remaining photos show the installation of the wheels and brakes. This was pretty much simply assembly, so I'll let the photos speak for themselves. I should point out that this installation is actually a risk at this point because the mains have no real strength without being bolted to the wing spar. Still, I have a plan to keep the aircraft supported while the wings are added.
